The relationships at The First Baptist Church are bound together by promises we make and strive to keep with God, one another and the community. Our church covenant reads:
“Because we believe in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, we enter into covenant with one another and with God to be the church of our Lord Jesus Christ.
In the world in which we move, we covenant to live Christian lives of integrity and honor, to witness to our faith in care and concern, to abstain from those things which are harmful.
In the homes in which we live, we covenant to seek to win all in our family to Christ, to study and pray together as a family, to teach each other the Christian way.
In the Church to which we belong, we covenant to watch over one another in brotherly love, to aid each other in sickness and distress, to remember each other in prayer.
As one body in Christ, we covenant together to practice Christian kindness and courtesy, to be slow to take offense at one another, to forgive and be willing to ask forgiveness, to cooperate for the good of the whole Church.
As member of this Church, we covenant together to participate in its worship and study, to contribute regularly for its ministry, to support its work and its leadership, to unite with another Church when we move away.
And now may the God of Peace that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make us perfect in every good work to do His will, working in us that which is well-pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen”
