RIP. Bill Hedgepeth

William (Bill) Herbert Hedgepeth, 76, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 28, 2017. He was born April 17, 1941 in Nash County, son of the late Joseph and Hattie Hedgepeth.

Bill was a 1959 graduate of Nashville High School and was a forever proud “Tarheel”, graduating with the UNC Chapel Hill Class of 1969. In 1974, Bill joined and later became the President of the Elizabeth City CPA firm, Austin, Hedgepeth, Foreman, & Spaeth. Bill served both his community and profession in various capacities, including serving as a deacon at The First Baptist Church of Elizabeth City, on the Board of Directors for the Elizabeth City Girls Club, a member of the Elizabeth City Kiwanis Club, and on the North Carolina Association of CPA’s Board of Directors.

Bill leaves behind his loving wife of 32 years, Gwen Hedgepeth, of the home; daughter, Stephanie Winslow Walters and grandsons, Liam, Charles, & Bennett of Wilmington, NC; daughter, Alicia Miele Lane, (Todd), and grandchildren, Todd II & Addison of Goldsboro, NC; and daughter, Natalie Miele Lane (Keith) and grandchildren Nikki & Penn of Goldsboro, NC.

A service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Twiford Funeral Homes, Elizabeth City, NC, officiated by the Reverend Paul Batson. Visitation with the family and friends will be from 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at the funeral home and in the lobby of the funeral home following the service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the following: The American Diabetes Association at http://www.diabetes.org/ or The First Baptist Church of Elizabeth City, 300 West Main Street, Elizabeth City, NC.
